Path of Exile Item Upgrading
Players can upgrade their weapons and equipment by adding new attachments. They can also boost its base stats or add additional benefits. To upgrade an item, the player has to have it in their inventory, as well as access to the kiln.
Items that have weak bases, such as rings, can be upgraded into stronger bases. Items with strong bases, like Titans from eth, have no change in their stats.
Upgrade components
Upgrade components can be slotted into trinkets, weapons, armor and tools for gathering, offering an attribute bonus or additional effect when the equipment is in use. They can be bought from vendors, or found in loot, dropped by enemies, or obtained as rewards from missions or chests. Certain upgrades come with additional cosmetic effects. Most upgrades require that the equipment be at a certain level before you can upgrade.
To upgrade a weapon, armor or other item in the game, the player will need to select it and then click on the Upgrade button on the toolbar. The preview will appear on the right side of the screen that shows what the expected upgrade stats will be and also the required element or material required to make that happen.
There are three types that are universal upgrades (which include gems), prefix upgrades, and suffix upgrade components. Universal upgrades, like gems, are able to be put on any type of equipment. They offer a lesser bonus than upgrade components that have a specific type restriction. Infusions are gems that can only be used in legendary and ascended equipment. They offer the same bonuses as jewels, however they cannot be used in other equipment. Suffix upgrades can be added to gathering tools. They add the suffix at the end of the names of items. For instance the addition of a Glyph would make the staff wrapping of Minor Vigor into a Canthan staff wrapping of Minor Vigor.
In the case of upgrades for gathering tools, if a player replaces one glyph by another the previous glyph will be returned to the inventory. If you replace another upgrade component, it will be destroyed, with the exception for inscriptions, which can be swapped freely.
Leveling

Path of Exile's upgrade system is different from the previous versions in a few key ways. Gear is now categorized in tracks, and each item can only be upgraded so many times before it is "leveled out." The cost of upgrading increases with each level up however the materials required aren't as high. This allows players to focus their efforts on a couple of essential items and maximize their impact instead of spreading the upgrade costs across multiple items.
When upgrade item is completed, it will be able to receive an upgrade set of components, as well as an increase in the probability that the upgrade will succeed. This bonus is referred to as the Artisan's Energy, and it is reset to 0 on failure or increases when the upgrade is successful.
When a piece of equipment is upgraded to its maximum level, it will be able to gain affixes which will enhance its capabilities. The number of affixes available will depend on the item's class. For instance an uncommon or rare weapon with a normal base will have no more than two affixes for it, whereas legendary armors can have up to eight affixes for it.
Each upgrade requires a certain number of Flightstones or Crests, based on whether the item is at its current level, and in which slot it is in. Typically, weapons will require more Flightstones to upgrade than other types of equipment.
If an item fails to attain its maximum level, the NPC offers the player the choice to transfer it to a new character and re-infuse the item with a different set or upgrades. This process takes up to two hours and costs the same amount of materials however it will result in less chance of success.
To determine the height of a structure, engineers will use an instrument to compare the measurement with a known reference point like a benchmark, or the elevation of the ground. This process is called a "level loop." It involves taking readings with the level, backsighting rod, and then turning the level to take the foresighting rod reading. This method makes sure that buildings are constructed to a high standard of safety and accuracy.
Rerolling
Rerolling refers to the process of changing an item's upgrade components. It is an important aspect of the game and can dramatically improve an item's strength and damage as well as other attributes. This can be done via the menu for items or by clicking the Reroll button on an upgraded item. Rerolling can be costly and should only be performed in the rarest of circumstances.
The game allows players to recycle upgraded items, which are used to acquire Reroll tokens. These tokens can be used to upgrade either the original item or another similar item. Recyclable items come with a level gauge that shows how much of the upgrade gauge is filled. The amount of level that has been filled depends on the rarity and the upgrade cost of the item.
Prior to this, certain upgrades were given priority affixes, which made them easier for players to roll. This meant that you could get the stats that mattered most to your build often than other items. These included things such as the armor's total armor, thorns and duration reduction statistics that were controlled or the weapon's bonus attack speed and critical strike chance.
This was changed in the latest patch. Priority affixes are no longer required and all upgrades will have the same odds of rolling for every stat. This can be good or bad, depending on what you're looking for and want from your equipment.
Each upgraded item can also be equipped with a special bonus that boosts the power of the item by a set percentage or a flat amount. These bonuses are added to the normal affixes. The more you upgrade your product, the better your chance of obtaining an exclusive bonus.
The game also comes with various sets that offer a set-based bonus when three or more upgraded items from the same set are installed on an item. This is an excellent method to add a lot of power to a particular character without spending an excessive amount of money.
Many players prefer to reroll their gear and weapons, especially in the beginning of the game. Rerolling can give players a faster route to becoming a strong character, allowing them to reach higher levels and progress in the game much more quickly.
Sets
Sets are collections that can be organized in different ways. They can be of various sizes, have none at all, or contain a single element. They are useful for organizing data or separating information. They can also be useful in analyzing patterns. Sets can be categorized in many ways, such as by size and shape.
There are a variety of set items to upgrade in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Some items are worth upgrading while others aren't. Upgrades are worthwhile for armor sets with high defense value and set bonuses. However, weapon upgrades often do not improve the stats of the item when in comparison to their counterparts in purple. This makes them less appealing to upgrade if you already have a lot of weapons or armor pieces already.
Certain set items are upgraded to take advantage of their own unique functions which can be useful in some builds. Guillaume's Face face and Aldur's Advance boots are examples of this. Both were upgraded from Exceptional Winged Helm and Exceptional Mirrored Boots respectively, boosting their defense by 217 to 321 (Strength requirement and Level requirement increased as well).
Another reason to upgrade certain items is to bring them up to parity with their counterparts in their tiers. For instance, the Immortal King set has a large level range, between 29 and 76. Upgrades to lower-level items can increase their defense and improve their performance when it comes to damage.
Clicking the Upgrade button will show the attributes of the item as well as the necessary items needed to upgrade it. The item's attributes will be displayed together with any required items. To upgrade the No-mouth face for instance, 1.1K Scrap Materials will be required, along with 250 Enchanted Dust and 5 Glowing Shards. Alternatively, players can go to the Leaderboard or Golden vendor in Cyrodiil to check the requirements for upgrading specific items.
In general, armor and weapons have a higher trade value when they are fully updated. Particularly, for weapons that feature spell/weapon damage glyphs and are upgraded to gold is recommended as it will provide a significant improvement in their stats. It will also boost the defense of armor that has a newer appearance.
